Horse For Sale: LP- Photo 1LP- Photo 2LP- Photo 3Quarter Horse Horse For Sale: Meet LP. He is a wonderful grade(non-registered) quarter horse that is gentle, hard working, willing and eager to please, and has that general quarter horse personality. I bought him from a horse trainer who had too many horses; and as a result he did not care for them very well. I have had him about 5 years. He is UTD on floating, shots, and his feet are trimmed every 8 weeks. He ties, stands quietly for the farrier, bathes, clips, hauls, and has ground manners. I also had him chiropractically adjusted about a year ago. He does show a little discomfort when saddled. However, it does not seem to bother him once you are on. We think he is around 10 years old. Do not let his age fool you. He still has more spunk than your average 5 year old. He is very smart. He can do just about anything you want to train him to do. He’s been on multiple camping trips, lots and lots and lots of trails, been roped off of, started on barrels, done a few pole patterns for fun, been used in a kids riding school, and been in parades. LP had a massive injury about 5 years ago that he’s never fully recovered from. He and another horse were playing and he kicked through a feed bunk, ripping all of the muscles, tendons, and any other attachments from the bottom part of his hock, to just above the fetlock. He moves fairly well off of it. It gets stiff it he has not been worked in awhile, or if it is cold. When I was still training him on barrels, he had a little trouble pivoting on it. But with slow work, and allowing the muscle to build, he can do just about anything. I started him on lounging as I was just taught how to do it not long ago. He is progressing quickly. When we hauled him a great deal, to rodeos, to camps, trails, and parades; he just stood at the trailer and slept until it was time for him to perform or do something. However, I have not been home the last 6 months due to deployment, and he has been a pasture ornament. I just got too busy to keep up with him and the Army. So he could definitely use a tune-up. He is a sweet boy and built like a tank. I am not sure he will be able to handle any seriously strenuous work. The injury really limited him back from anything really crazy. But he’s a wonderful trail horse, trainer for your balance and patients (as most horses are), and he wants to please all the time. With the required amount of time you need, you could probably build the muscle in his leg well enough to do just about anything. He is pastured with two of my other horses, both mares. He is a little bit of a herd bully sometimes. But he is pretty easily corrected. You are welcome to bring your vet and farrier if you decide you would like to see him. It will be at your cost. Coggins and health certificate are at your cost. I am selling due to the fact that my Army career is taking too much time away from him. He is far too wonderful of a horse to let waste away in a pasture. I really hate to sell him, but I want what is best for him. I am still very picky on the home he will go to. I do require a vet reference before I sell. My sister, Stephanie Hickman, will be handling the sale. I am in Afghanistan and do not have access to his recent pictures. These pictures don’t do him justice. However, if you contact Stephanie, she will send you the most recent ones. Including those of his leg. I apologize for the inconvenience. Her phone number is 913-424-8679. Please call her for additional pictures or any questions you might have. She’ll be more than happy to assist you. - posted by: mandyburns1988
